Free calculators for hourly workers who want to check their pay — built on state rules, not just the federal 40-hour default.

Why this exists

Almost every free time card calculator applies one rule: overtime after 40 hours a week. For people working in California, Alaska, Colorado or Nevada, that answer can be wrong on a normal week. Bonuses are usually ignored too, even though federal law folds them into the rate overtime is paid at.HoursCheck is built to get those cases right, and to show its sources so you can check it.

Who is behind it

HoursCheck is built and maintained by a solo developer based in Bali, Indonesia, who makes free tools to help people with everyday questions about work and pay.

The rules themselves come from US sources, not from opinion: every state rule on the site is checked against that state's own statute or labor department, the date it was checked is shown on the page, and every change is recorded on the changelog. How that works is explained on the methodology page.
