Reading 24-hour time
From 1pm on, add 12 to the hour: 1pm is 13:00 and 5:30pm is 17:30. Midnight is 00:00. You can type 1730, 17:30 or 5:30pm — the calculator reads them all and tidies them to 24-hour format.

Overnight shifts
When the clock-out is smaller than the clock-in — 22:00 to 06:00 — the shift crosses midnight. Add 24 hours to the clock-out before subtracting: 30:00 − 22:00 = 8:00, or 8.00 hours. The hours count on the day the shift started.

How do I calculate hours between two military times?
Subtract the start from the end. 17:30 minus 08:00 is 9 hours 30 minutes, or 9.50 in decimal. If the end is smaller than the start, the shift crossed midnight: add 24 to the end first, so 06:00 becomes 30:00, and 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours.
What is 1730 in regular time?
1730 is 5:30pm. For any time from 1300 up, subtract 12 from the hours and add pm: 1300 is 1pm, 1845 is 6:45pm and 2215 is 10:15pm. Times from 0000 to 1159 are morning — 0000 is midnight — and 1200 to 1259 is the noon hour.
Can I switch the time card back to am and pm?
Yes. Set Time format to 12-hour and every punch on the sheet is rewritten in 5:30pm style, and you can switch back to 24-hour whenever you like. The totals do not change — only the way the times are written on the time card.
